Max Verstappen has been in a class of his own in 2023 and clinched his third world title last time out in Qatar.
The Dutchman is aiming for his 15th win of the season this weekend and is eagerly anticipating racing at Circuit of the Americas.
“I’m really looking forward to the race in Austin this weekend; as a Team, we have a lot of special memories from there. The atmosphere at the track is also like no other; there are so many Red Bull Racing fans there to cheer us on.”
“It is another Sprint race, so it could be quite hectic for us; we only have one session to try and find the optimum balance in the car.”
As one side of the Red Bull garage rides the crest of a wave, Perez has been floundering since he won two of the first four races this year.
Despite a disappointing run of form, the 33-year-old hopes to deliver in Texas and in front of his home crowd in Mexico next weekend.
“I’m looking forward to the next few weeks of racing. Austin and Mexico are two of my favourite weeks of the year. I have such incredible support in both places, and that means a lot to me. Even when you can’t hear it in the car, you can feel it.”
The United States Grand Prix will represent a second home race of the year for Williams driver Logan Sargeant.
The American is yet to score a point in F1 despite his teammate Alex Albon finishing 7th twice as the British team continues to become more competitive.
The 22-year-old has been under pressure in his rookie season but said the transition to Formula 1 from junior categories is much trickier today than it was previously due to a lack of testing.
“It is just about building off the mistakes, and it might sound silly, but using them to your advantage to try and learn from them. Ideally, you’d have more testing, as that is the best way to prepare.
“Back in the day when Lewis [Hamilton] and Fernando [Alonso] joined, everyone back then got endless days of testing, and in the current car, too, which is very different to what we experience now.”
The United States Grand Prix will be Lando Norris’ 100th F1 start, although the 23-year-old isn’t overly optimistic heading into the weekend.
“The slow speed corners aren’t our strong point. In Qatar we knew we would be strong, here Mercedes and Ferrari will be fast.”
