Pressure For Andover New Street To Repeat History

ANDOVER New Street Football Club will be constantly under pressure in the 25/26 Wessex League Premier season, as they and fans alike, will want to see a repeat of their success last year, their greatest season ever.

The Hampshire club reached the semi-final of the FA Vase in 2024/25, being eliminated by AFC Whyteleafe after a 1-0 defeat at home at Foxcotte Park contributed to a 4-1 defecit on aggregate.

They also made it to the playoff final for a spot in step 4 of the Non-League system, which for them, will be the Southern League Division One South.

Unfortunately a 2-1 defeat to Fareham put an abrupt end to their dreams.

A big contributor to their best year to date was Cameron Thatcher, who has spent his whole career with the club, including youth level, he found the net twice in the Vase run,.

One was the winning penalty in the fifth round against AFC Stoneham, he also scored against Bradford Town in the opening round:

“It was really good to have a season like that. To get to the playoff finals as well and semi-finals of the Vase and nearly get where we wanted to be, but so close so far.

“Try again this year, won’t we?

“It’s obviously going to be difficult because we’ve got a target on our back now, after last year, everyone’s going to be keeping an eye on what we’re doing.

“The least we can do is just try and take every game as it comes, with the pressure that’s going to come with that, if we get anywhere near what we did last year, then we’ve done well, I think.”
