Marc Guehi removed from England squad due to foot injury

AFTER sustaining a foot injury in Crystal Palace’s conference league clash with AZ Alkmaar last week, Marc Guehi has been removed from the England Squad

The 25 year old was originally kept in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, but after not appearing during last nights 2-0 win against Serbia, the defender has been officially removed.

It was a controversial decision by the german to include Guehi after he missed Palace’s goalless draw with Brighton last Sunday, reportedly being ‘unable to walk’ due to the bruising.

England will play on Sunday at home against Albania, with the three lions already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, an open gap in the squad could give Tuchel a chance to experiment.

Dan Burn and Trevor Chalobah have both made their international debuts under Tuchel’s reign and could potentially be brought back into Tuchel’s squad, whereas Jarrell Quansah, despite inclusion in multiple squads has yet to see the pitch in an England Shirt.

Tuchel has been already tested with injuries during his time in charge, Ollie Watkins has had to replace an injured Harry Kane on multiple occasions, but the Aston Villa striker didn’t make the most recent England squad, due to poor performances in the league.

If Marc Guehi doesn’t return to his form pre-injury could his spot be taken like Watkins, or could his rumoured January transfer be put in jeopardy? We will have to wait and find out.
