GOLFER Tom Kim made history as he won his third PGA Tour title, defending his title in style in Las Vegas.
He has become the youngest golfer to win three PGA titles since Tiger Woods, and the first golfer to defend the Shriners Children’s Open since Jim Furyk in 1999.
Alongside his back to back Shriners Children’s Open wins, Kim also won the Wyndham Championship in 2022 to mark his first PGA Tour triumph.
Kim won the same event last year by three strokes, however his margin of victory was much smaller this time around.
Rival Adam Hadwin looked like spoiling the party until hole 16, where his approach shot splashed into the water, only managing a bogey.
The impressive Kim went unblemished in the final nine holes to win the trophy by one-shot and finish on 20 under par.
The win solidifies the South Korean’s growing reputation, adding to his eighth-place finish in the US Open and runner up in the Open Championship in July.
The win means Kim rises from 16th to 11th in the world rankings, the highest he has been in his career.
Kim said:
“It was probably the most emotional final round I’ve experienced win-wise the last year and a half.
“I really felt confident in myself. I knew if I did me I was going to be able to do it.
“I’m stoked to get this one.”
