Preview: Eastleigh V Solihull Moors

The Spitfires host Solihull Moors in Scott Bartlett’s first home game in charge at the Silverlake Stadium, as they look to make it three games unbeaten.

Eastleigh:

SCOTT Bartlett, whose side are unbeaten since his reign started, takes charge of his first home game as Blues manager against Solihull Moors, who are also facing changes in the dugout.

Bartlett was victorious when the Spitfires ventured to Cornwall midweek, grabbing a 2-0 win and his first victory as Eastleigh manager. His previous game was also an impressive away result, as 10-man Eastleigh drew 0-0 with Wealdstone.

Eastleigh sit 13th in the table, only four points off Tamworth, who occupy the last play-off place. The Spitfires have a game in hand, which could reduce the deficit to just one point when they face Scunthorpe on the 21st of October after this game was postponed previously. But for now, full focus is on Solihull Moors at the weekend.

Player to watch: Aaron Blair

After signing from Maidstone in the summer, Aaron Blair is enjoying a successful start to life in SO50. Blair is a clinical finisher whose versatility allows him to operate either as a striker or as a winger. The forward has six goals in his first twelve games as a Spitfire.

Blair netted once again in the midweek win against Truro City, Bartlett will hope to see Blair among the goals once again when the Blues take on Solihull Moors at the weekend.

Solihull Moors:

Chris Millington will take charge of his first game for his new club in SO50 at the weekend. Millington has previous experience in the National League with Halifax Town.

He takes over from Matt Taylor, who was winless in the Moors’ first six games of the season. However, interim manager James Quinn managed three wins, one draw, and two losses in his brief spell in charge.

Millington inherits a side sitting 18th in the Enterprise National League, coming off the back of a 3-0 home loss to Woking. He will be looking to get off to a flying start against the Spitfires’ on Saturday.

Players to watch: Jacob Wakeling

Jacob Wakeling has been extremely impressive since joining from League Two outfit Swindon Town. The 24-year-old suffered a series of injuries last year during his loan spell at Peterborough, but this season he has five goals in seven games.

Keeping the striker fit could be vital in Chris Millington’s attempts to escape the relegation zone. Wakeling has plenty of League football experience and will no doubt be one to watch come Saturday.
