Emma Raducanu set for prize money breakthrough

EMMA RADUCANU is closing in on a prize money breakthrough, following an impressive run in the Women’s Miami Open, taking her career earnings on court to $4,905,433.

Her career total was boosted after reaching the Quarter Finals. The Briton defeated four opponents in her run, which included a walkover, as well as defeating three Americans on their own turf.

She beat top ten player Emma Navarro and the in-form Amanda Anisimova during her run in Miami.

Raducanu had endured a challenging start to her 2025 on and off the court. She struggled for form and suffered a series of disappointing results.

The 22-year-old was also a victim to what was described as ‘exhibited fixed behaviour’ during a match in Dubai in mid-February. Raducanu was targeted by a stalker – the man was subsequently removed from the stands and given a restraining order by Dubai police.

Speaking about the incident, Raducanu said: “I literally couldn’t see the ball through tears. I could barely breathe.”

Raducanu confirmed she seriously considered taking a break from tennis after the traumatic incident, but she opted to travel to America for the Miami Open, which ultimately turned out to be a successful decision.

The Briton ranked up 12 spots to 48th place following her Miami achievements, returning to the top 50 for the first time since September 2022.

Raducanu will now turn her attention to her next tournament, the Billie Jean King Cup, which will be hosted in Shenzhen, China.
