TO celebrate St Patrick’s day yesterday, here are our top 5 Patricks to have played in the Premier League.
1. Patrick Viera: Arguably the best player on this list, Vieria made 307 apperances for both Arsenal and Manchester City, scoring 31 goals and registering 34 assists. Vieria was known for his agression and dominant ball carrying in the midfield for the gunners. The frenchman was involved in one of the most iconic Premier League moments in 2005 when Vieria and Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane got involved in a heated exchange in the Highbury Tunnel. Vieria entered Premier League management with Crystal Palace managing the eagles on 65 occasions.
2. Patrick Kluivert: Despite joining the Premier League in the twighlight years of his career, Kluivert made 25 appearances for Newcastle, scoring 6 goals during his spell at St James’ Park in the 2004/05 season. Patrick is the father to current Bournemouth winger Justin.
3. Patrick Van Aanholt: The Dutchamn began his career with Chelsea, coming through the famous Cobham academy but made just two Premier League appearances for the Blues. However, it was at Sunderland and Crystal Palace where Van Aanholt made his name as a solid Premier League left back with tons of pace. Van Aanholt would go on to make 210 Premier League appearences. The 34 year old now plies his trade for Dutch outfit Sparta Rotterdam.
4. Patrick Bamford: The englishman rejected an offer from Harvard University to pursue his dream of playing proffessional football. He joined Chelsea at the age of 18, but never made an appearance for the blues. He was sent on numerous loans to the EFL, but found his feet at his present club Leeds United. Bamford scored an impressive 17 goals in his first full Premier League season, but injuries have haltered his career in recent times.
5. Patrick Dorgu: A Danish youngster signed in the January transfer window for the Red Devils who has been destined for some great things, but lets be honest, it may take some time! The Dane has been signed to give Manchester United balance in the left wing back role as Luke Shaw continues to struggle with injures.
