Darts legend Adrian Lewis has lost his tour card just 14 years after winning his maiden PDC World Championship victory

It’s been a tough couple of years for Lewis who has now fallen out of the Top 64 in the world rankings having not competed competitively since April 2023 due to caring for his ill wife and a loss of form.

Despite this, the darts icon nicknamed Jackpot announced he will be returning to the sport in July of this year but he has yet to return to competitive action.

With many darts, fans were shocked to see the 39-year-old decided not to compete at the PDPA World Darts Championship qualifier this week.

This left many darts fans disappointed as this was his last chance to qualify for next month’s tournament meaning the four-time major winner will only miss his second World Championship since his debut in 2005

As a result of this Lewis will now be required to attend the PDC UK Q school in January in an attempt to regain his professional status and win a two-year tour card to compete in PDC tournaments.

When speaking to Darts Pundit Wayne Mardle on if fans can expect to see Jackpot make a comeback Lewis said “I’m going to see where I’m at first”.

“Obviously I’ll do the MODUS next year, see where I’m at see where my games at and if I’m enjoying it. Then obviously, I’d love to go to Q-School.”

Commenting on his time away from the sport, he added: “It was never my intention to put the darts away forever.

“You know, I said I was taking a break, I never said I was retiring and there was always a possibility I was going to come back.

I didn’t really have the hunger, which I knew I needed to have to succeed. My wife has got an incurable kidney disease so we were in and out of hospital a lot of the time.

“Then, my daughter, she’s disabled, she’s got autism and it was just all getting too much for me. That’s not going away of course, but we can learn to deal with it.”

Other Notable Darts players who have now lost their tour cards and are required to attend Q School will be Former World Championship runner-up Simon Whitlock and Former Premier League Finalist Mervyn King
