SOUTHAMPTON will be without midfielder Adam Lallana for tonight’s Premier League clash at Brighton.
Lallana was subbed off in the first half of Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool with a hamstring injury which he’s now suffering for the 7th time in his top flight career.
Saints boss Russell Martin added: “It’s a shame as I think he’d loved to have been back on a pitch where he enjoyed playing”
The 36 year-old moved back to his boyhood club over the summer from the Seagulls where he spent the previous four seasons, and this would’ve been his first return to the AMEX Stadium pitch since leaving, if he were fit.
Another player who was in doubt for Southampton tonight was striker Paul Onuachu, who put on an impressive performance against the league leaders at the weekend.
The PUSKAS nominee was also substituted within 55 minutes of the first game he’s started so far this season because of fatigue.
Martin says: “Paul did brilliantly at the weekend, he seems fine and seems to be recovering quite nicely.
“We had him scanned straight away as it seemed to be a bit of a worry, but it’s not anything serious at all so he should hopefully be involved, if not we’ll assess him for Wednesday.
“We’re all hopeful the big man can be involved and it’s been a shame how it has worked out for him at the club so far.”
In other team news both Ross Stewart and Juan Larios continue to recover from their respective injuries and won’t be ready this side of Christmas.
