Is Steve Borthwick’s time as England Head Coach running out?

AFTER Saturday’s last minute loss 42-37 to Australia, England Rugby Head Coach Steve Borthwick’s record is now down to 50% with 13 wins out of 26 matches.

The red roses are currently facing a bad run of form, having lost 6 out of ten matches in 2024 and their fourth loss in a row.

Things look even worse for Borthwick when you stack him up against his predecessor, with Eddie Jones hailing a win record of 73% before his firing as England boss.

Fans shouldn’t be all concerned when looking back at previous results though, as the previous two being narrow losses against top ranking sides England haven’t looked completely off the pace.

World champions and number one ranked side South Africa are next up for Borthwick’s men, who will see this as a real opportunity to make a statement.

Borthwick is yet to beat the Springbocks, their last meeting in the Rugby World Cup semi finals ended in a narrow 16-15 loss with the victors going on to win the tournament for a second time in a row.

Four changes come into the side in hopes to shake things up for England, Leicester Tigers duo Freddie Steward and Jack van Poortfliet come in at Full back and Scrum Half making their first appearances in the Autumn Internationals.

Sam Underhill will replace Tom Curry who misses the game through concussion and a maiden test start for winger Ollie Sleightholme, who replaces the injured Immanuel Feyi-Waboso.

The new faces seem to represent a new look for Borthwick, with big changes needing to be made to keep the confidence of fans.
