SOUTHAMPTON fans are raging at the price of tickets for the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Liverpool in December.
A great opportunity to fill St Mary’s for what is a massive game for Russell Martin’s men, has been hindered by the price of tickets with a lot of fans opting to watch at home on Sky Sports instead.
Saints have revealed adult pricing will start at £30, an increase from the £20 charged when they beat Manchester City in the quarter-final two seasons ago.
Premier League leaders Liverpool travel to St Mary’s on Wednesday December 18th, the prize is a place in the last four of the Carabao Cup.
This game is one of seven on Saints calendar in December and coming just seven days before Christmas fans will struggle to afford a ticket.
Season ticket holder John Duncalf said: “it is unfair that season ticket holders have to pay this much, when they already pay a lot for the season ticket and spend money in and around the ground on matchdays. I feel this will put people off from going”.
Saints fan have expressed their outrage on X:
Hiding behind the £30 ticket fee, a £1.50 booking fee is also required, something that is hard to understand seeing as all tickets are digital and no extra funds are needed to process tickets.
Some supporters have also mentioned they are concerned about Liverpool fans purchasing home end tickets, however a previous Saints booking history will be required.
This announcement comes just days after the Football Supporters Association Campaign announced their #StopExploitingLoyalty campaign, aimed to combat rising ticket prices.
Unfortunately, this problem is spread across the whole league with outrageous ticket prices becoming increasingly normal.
The Monday night clash between Fulham and Brentford saw the lowest adult ticket price set at £49, going all the way up to £105 for a seat in the Riverside stand.
