CHARLOTTE Robinson was reminded of the vital role emergency services play in saving lives in April 2025, when her grandfather suffered a serious accident and received life-saving assistance.

Determined to give something back to the charity that had supported her family during a difficult time, Charlotte took on the gruelling Chester Marathon to raise money for the organisation.

The 26.2-mile challenge saw Charlotte cross the finish line in an impressive three hours and 58 minutes, completing the marathon in under four hours while raising £974 for the cause.

Charlotte said: “I’m incredibly proud of myself for completing the marathon in a sub-four hours. It was for a great cause, they helped saved my grandads life so I’m glad I can show my gratitude. However, it was so hard! I think I’ve ticked the box now and won’t be completing another one!”

The marathon, held in Chester city centre, attracted more than 10,000 runners, with an estimated 50,000 spectators lining the route to cheer on participants.

North West Air Ambulance provides emergency medical care to patients across the region, responding to serious incidents and delivering critical treatment when it is needed most. In over 20- years the North West Ambulance has responded to almost 20 million emergency incidents.

By completing the marathon in under four hours, Charlotte not only reached a personal milestone but also raised a significant sum for a charity that had made a lasting difference to her family.
