DANIEL Dubois says he is ‘locked in’ and ready to ‘go to battle’ ahead of his fight against Fabio Wardley at the O2 Arena on Saturday, October 17.

Dubois is the current holder of the WBO heavyweight title, after he beat Wardley just five months ago in Manchester. It was the first defeat of Wardley’s career, and he quickly triggered his rematch clause in his contract following the defeat.

The ring-walk times for the main event are scheduled for 10:30 pm on Saturday, although the event begins at 7 pm with numerous undercards taking place at the event.

Ahead of the fight, Dubois has said: “I was coming off a defeat last time, so I was a bit nervous and stuff. It is just a fresh start for me now. I feel even better, a smoother training camp this time, and I will be ready for war.

I have got to put things right this time, be sharp off the mark, more precise, and take him out in style this time. Just raise my level now, raise my game and break him down again. I am going to come in as champion and just demonstrate my skill and my pedigree.”

Dubois and Wardley both joined each other for a press conference ahead of their big rematch, and both were in high spirits.

Dubois said: “I am feeling stronger and grounded, ready to do my job. Get through this and there are bigger and better things. I take every fight seriously and I am zoned in to go out there and perform.

I am ready to go out there and go to war, I am locked in.”

Wardley claims he still feels confident despite such a devastating loss to Dubois in the first fight a few months ago.

“Surprisingly, I feel great. Whenever you suffer a loss, it’s never part of the plan or what you want. But the thought of it is much worse than the reality.

I am wanting to put myself in the biggest fights out there and the biggest tests. I was the one who picked Daniel, that was my voluntary choice. That does put you in a situation for things to go wrong and it did on the night but I can right those wrongs.

We know as a team where I went wrong, there was some areas where I had huge success and some where I went wrong. I slipped up on the night and did things wrong, but no problem; I can go back to the drawing board, be honest with myself, and make those changes.”
