Eastleigh’s Tommy Scott – the struggles of being a professional footballer

Tommy Scott has recently opened up about his battle as a professional footballer.

Eastleigh Goalkeeper Scott, reveals in an exclusive interview how he almost quit professional football, after a 6 month break from the sport.

Scott said :” I quit football for 6 months, I went to square one.” He continues:”I even played for free, not getting paid for anything”

The Spitfires shot stopper has struggled to maintain a position at any club during his career, but Scott is hoping that Eastleigh can change that.

Scott is currently Eastleigh’s number 2 goalkeeper, but after being released on more than one occasion, the Northern Irishman is hoping to push for the number one spot to ensure his position at the club.

Talking about his position at Eastleigh, Scott adds: ” I’ve joined the club as a number two keeper, but if the chance comes I want to be competing for the number one shirt.”

Despite his knock-backs, Scott has received an international call up for Northern Ireland u23s and was an unused substitute in their European qualifying campaign.

Now he’s back in professional football hoping to kickstart his career once again.
