Southampton Sunday League round-up
CHAMBERLAYNE Athletic leaped back to the top of Division, One but their 4-0 win over Newton Heath could be their parting shot.
Goals from Harry Chivers, Liam Fielder, Ross Walton and Justyn Penfold saw Chamberlayne comfortably home but the league leaders could be on the verge of folding.
Chamberlayne have been hit by the problem plaguing numerous teams this season of player shortage and commitment.
Division Four has lost four of the ten teams it started the season with and withdrawals have left league officials with the headache of how to allocate points or expunge records.
Elsewhere in Division One, Embley Park had to take their 2-0 defeat to AFC Hutwood on the Chin as Howard Chin and Clive Rubenstein were on the money.
Landguard Rovers 6-1 defeat to Madeinheath United nails them to the bottom of the table. Lewis Wild (2), Luke Grinyer, Max Shergill, Isaac Greg and Chris Bull were on target for United, with Caesor Olla consoling Rovers.

AFC Hythe came out on top of the Division Three title clash in a 6-4 thriller against leaders Woolston T&L, mainly thanks to Jamie Cooley
George Fairless (2), Shea O’Loughlin and Archie Waldock were on target for Woolston, Only for Cooley’s foursome, plus singles from Lewis Walker and Joe Macklin to clinch the point for Hythe, who sit three points behind Woolston with a game in hand, although T&L’s goal difference is eight better.
AFC Netley Sunday took their points haul into double figures with a 3-2 win which nails Cottage to the foot of Division Three. Jack Hutchings, Craig David and Sam Bessant were on target for Netley, with Toby and Jacob Holloway replying for Cottage.
Horton Hawks (Will Porter, Luke Dawkins) shared the points with Wyvern Youth Reds (Mark Sampson, Owen Hurst) in a 2-2 draw.
Southern Sports’ 2-1 win over Solent United Reds, thanks to goals from Andrew Powell and Ryan Williams, keeps them in the mix in a three-way title race in a depleted division.
West Totton Wanderers maintained the pressure on inactive Division 5 leaders Monksbrook with a 6-1 win over Boorley Green. Will Erdine’s hat-trick led the way with Evan Nelson and Nathan Gray on the scoresheet for Wanderers who are nine points behind Monksbrook with three games in hand.
Pavilion Panthers spread the goals around in the 5-1 win over Unathletic Athletic (Tom Sketcher). Josh Coombs, Niall Wood, Mike MacDonald, Jared Parker and Alex Waldren notched for the Panthers.
Arvin Singh, Mitch Ward and Makki Lamich earned Wyvern Youth Athletic a 3-2 win over FC Phoenix.
Linden Tree are close to making the chasing Division Seven pack needing snookers as they walloped BTC Sunday Reds 10-0. Charlie Rattley and Callum Crotty notched hat-tricks, with Bradley O’Sullivan adding a double and Lewis Frost and Max Westerman rounding off the score.
Southern Sport Youth are clinging on to Linden Tree’s coattails with a 5-1 win which left Wyvern Youth Saints bottom of the pile. Richie Fernandez, Charlie Glasspool, Dylan Rogers, Kai Anderson and Lewis Amos all notched for Southern, with Shaun Bell consoling Wyvern.
Bursledon United remain top of Division Eight with a 6-0 win over Compton, with Nick Watts’ hat-trick leading the way, and Alex McNeil, Charlie Gordon and Josh Thompson-Phiri round of the rout.
But looming large in their rear-view mirror are Wimpson, five points behind with two games in hand following their 8-1 win over Halfway Inn Reserves. John Callaway blasted four, Jorge Abreau added two and Jacks Cullin and Castle added singles.
Barleycorn A put six past AFC Southside, thanks to Richard Adames (3), Chris Astridge, Dan Assadi and Nathan Roles, with Matt Atkins and Kian O’Rourke replying.
Josh Halton’s hat-trick bankrolled Holly Hill Reserves’ 6-3 win over Montfort, Ben Gilbey sank a souble and Robert Dawson a single, with Joe Lovell (2) and Olly Lovell replying.
In Cup action, AFC Shirley missed out on a place in the Hampshire FA Sunday Trophy final. Coming up short with a 2-0 defeat to Basingstoke Hammers in the semi-final.
In the Hampshire Press Charlie Godden Trophy, Marchwood Rangers emerged from a penalty shoot-out with South Coast to book their place in the final.
Brad Raynsford and Reeve Davis scored for Marchwood to take the tie to shoot-out, with Billy Lawrence, Branson King, Davis, Raynsford and Jack Roberts slotting home from the spot top wij the shoot-out 5-4.
