VOTING for the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year is now open, with fans from around the world able to vote for their favourite from a five-player shortlist.
England goalkeeper Mary Earps is among the candidates, joining Aitana Bonmati, Sam Kerr, Alexandra Popp and Fridolina Rolfö on the list.
Bonmati is favourite for the award after a hugely successful season, winning the Premera Division, Champions League and World Cup – playing a starring role in Spain’s victory.
However, Earps will be looking to become only the second English player to win the trophy after her meteoric rise in recent years, particularly for the national team.
The Manchester United player was England’s third choice at the 2019 World Cup but has since gone on to establish herself as first choice, playing an integral role in their Euro 2020 win and this year’s World Cup.
The award was first given out in 2015 and previous winners include Asisat Oshoala, Kim Little, Ada Hegerberg, Lucy Bronze, Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead.
The five contenders for the accolade were chosen by a panel of experts, including coaches, players, administrators and journalists.
Voting closes at 09:00 GMT on Friday 3rd November 2023 and the winner of the award will be announced on Tuesday 28th November on BBC World Service and the BBC Sport website.
