Joao Neves, the 19-year old Benfica player, is in mourning after his mother passed away at just 50 years old.
According to Record , a Portuguese newspaper, she died the morning after Benfica’s 6-1 win against Vizela, which put the eagles joint first with Sporting Lisbon.
Neves had had a brilliant start to his career, at such a young age he has caught the eye of several European giants like Manchester City and Manchester United.
Dealing with the loss of a mother is never easy, it will take time to grief with her death.
The Portugal national team has showed their support to Joao on their Instagram page.
Sporting CP player Pedro Goncalves gave his support saying: “I would like to send my condolences on behalf of the entire team to Joao Neves and Antonio Silva”
The box to box midfielder is yet to talk about the death of his mum on any social media platform.
