Chelsea v Manchester City preview

MANCHESTER City travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the Premier League this afternoon. A win today would cut the gap on Arsenal to six points with a game in hand.

The away side come into this fixture off the back of back to wins before the international break, including a 2-0 Carabao Cup final win over title rivals Arsenal.

They are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League matches, last losing to Manchester United in the derby at Old Trafford 2-0.

The title chasers have boasted a good recent record against Chelsea, hoping to extend a club record run of 12 games unbeaten in all competitions against the London based side. The last time City lost to Chelsea was the Champions League final in Porto in 2021 and haven’t lost to today’s opposition in the league since 2021 (2-1 loss at the Etihad).

The home side also come into this fixture off of back to back wins including a 7-0 win over Port Vale to reach the semi finals of the FA Cup.

But despite this, they have only managed one win in their last five league games which was a 4-1 away at Aston Villa.

Chelsea boast more wins in the head to head record with Manchester City, with 71 wins to City’s 67.

A win for the home side would take them within one point of fifth place in the race for the last Champions League spot currently occupied by Liverpool.
