THE CLASS OF 2026

Today marks the day of our last newsday before our graduation. After a three-year journey, consisting of learning curves, mistakes, but most importantly, memories, here are a few that we remember.

THE CLASS OF 26’ The last 3 years have been incredible, and we have all created memories to last a lifetime. Many learning curves, many mistakes made, but we have all become incredible people. University life has never looked so good, and this is what it is all about. Thank you for the best three years❤️ #university #unilife #graduation #uni #fyp

(The Class Of 2026)

Item Of The Week

The item of the week may be the best introduction to the course. The love and camaraderie this has brought to the group are superb.

Whether it is Rochelle Barham bringing in some home-baked goods or Ewan Minns bringing a single slice of Cheese. Graham Hiley and his teamwork with his wife and Chris Effner, taking his kids’ food, have made the group closer than ever.

Soccer Saturday/ Soccer Nights

An excellent programme which brought together the whole year group, with people going to grounds they never thought they would go to, or covering games on a panel. The pizza ordered may also be one of the highlights.

These days gave us moments such as Cameron Jarvis’ excellent reporting whilst at Walsall, Zac Jackson not realising he is still on air whilst at AFC Totton, Beau Brown being miserable whilst watching the worst football match ever and many trips abroad for our reporters.

Video FC VS Audio FC football match

To celebrate the last three years at University, the Sports Journalism third-years took to the football pitch, with Audio FC (A team made up of half of the year group) facing Video FC (the other half of the year group)

Audio FC snatched a late 2-1 win through an unlikely source, Cameron Jarvis, in the biggest game Solent has ever seen.

The game was played at Test Park and had been brewing over the last few years in the Newsroom.

Josh Richardson’s lack of autocue

During a news bulletin, Josh Richardson sadly had a lack of access to the autocue. Whilst the behind-the-scenes team were begging Josh to carry on with the script, however, Josh kept his cool and didn’t show signs of stress… HE WAS FUMING

The lecturers

Three years of teaching from the very best has led us to where we are now. This story would not be so EXCELLENTLY written without the guidance and wisdom of our lecturers. They have been incredible throughout, and the memories they have created are superb.

At NO OTHER university would you see a lecturer choosing the safety of biscuits over students during a fire drill. However, we would not change a single thing.

Ethan Cook is being taken out on record

The commitment Ethan showed to get a new hairstyle each month, but also to get wiped out on record, just for a Newsday package, is fairly impressive.

Whilst on the live team, Ethan’s package was on American Football, and for some reason he agreed to taking a full pelt tackle, just to get some laughs.

Max and his AWFUL shirt

Max Freeman is a character who has grown massively over the three years, and his fashion sense could easily be a separate story.

The lad from London, who wants to be American, did a package about golf, and wore possibly his worst outfit ever. The shirt is appalling, but his golf shot was not too bad.

Beau Brown

Clare Balding, wait, no, Beau Brown, has taken a lot of stick for being a 60-year-old man despite being a university student, but sadly, he does not help himself.

Whether he is wearing a shocking cardigan, talking about his luxurious locks, or just dropping the worst footballing takes, he has created a huge space in our hearts.

He has opened up all our eyes, and people have definitely got a completely different outlook on life thanks to this incredible young man.

From all of us in the class, BEST OF LUCK AT THE BBC. There is no doubt you will smash it, be yourself, and you will go so far.

Harry McBain as a cheerleader

Harry is probably the only person in our class who could pull off a cheerleading outfit, and it is just a shame he hasn’t worn it more!

The newsday chaos continued with more weird and wonderful packages, and McBain and his team have covered sports from Cheer to Bowls, organised CHAOS.

Ed Groves and his hidden talent at Pool

Ed Groves is a very talented man. When it comes to sports, he is so versatile that you could call him Igor Tudor.

When Ed took to the pool table, nobody expected him to pull off one of THE GREATEST SHOTS OF ALL TIME.

Thank you for an incredible three years. Good luck to everyone in the future!
