Preview: Wimborne Town vs Walton & Hersham

Matchday poster detailing the match between Wimborne Town and Walton & Hersham

WIMBORNE Town host league leaders Walton & Hersham who look to extend their lead to 15 points at the summit.

Walton & Hersham are on course to become league champions of the Southern League Premier South sitting at the top of the tree a dozen points above Gloucester City below.

The Swans sailed to the top of the league in September and, despite a managerial change in November, have kept up the pace ever since.

However, Wimborne Town sit in mid table mediocrity in 12th, comfortably six points above the relegation zone but 15 points below playoffs.

A poor run of form in 2026 has contributed to this having won just two games so far this year.

Despite this, The Magpies will be quietly hopeful that they can overturn a team at the top as they did last season when they held last season’s champions Merthyr Town to a 1-1 draw and shocked AFC Totton with a 3-1 win at home.

Wimborne come off the back of a frustrating 0-0 stalemate with relegation threatened Tiverton Town whereas Walton & Hersham could win their sixth consecutive match.

When the two sides clashed in September, The Swans narrowly edged 1-0 win with the only goal in the 10th minute by Johl Powell.

Wimborne have faced The Swans three times in the Southern Premier Division and have yet to gain even a point.

Solent Sports News will be reporting live from the match tonight, and you can tune into both radio and TV shows for live reports via YouTube.
