ATTENDANCE – 1,775

’90 – GOAL! 3-1 (7 – ELLIE BRAZIL) SOUTHAMPTON 3 – 1 CRYSTAL PALACE:

Surely it’s game over now as Ellie Brazil has her hat-trick goal in a great performance by the Saints attacker. Substitute Tegan Mcgowan made a great run down the left-hand side and put in an even better delivery for Brazil to score a true striker’s goal. Seconds later, she’s been named today’s man of the match

ADDED TIME – 5 MINUTES

’89 – The visitors are piling the pressure late on to find anything to take back up the M3 this afternoon.

’85 – Substitution for Southampton – OFF 10 Michaela McAlonie ON 3 Milly Mott

’85 – Substitution for Crystal Palace- OFF 17 Annabel Blanchard ON 12 Lola Brown

’81 – CHANCE! – It’s another great chance for Southampton that goes astray. A clever ball from Brazil finds Michaela McAlonie one-on-one with Palace goalkeeper Yanez, forcing a great save from the American shot stopper

’76CHANCE! – Great footwork by Ellie Brazil puts Saints in a great position just outside the area to score a third, only for Chloe Peplow to put the shot just wide of the left post. Huge chance for Southampton to take a commanding lead.

’74 – The last few games reminisce classic Basketball games, with both teams having chances at either end in a matter of minutes. The game looks to be opening up for either side to score again.

’69YELLOW CARD (17 Tegan Mcgowan) – Mcgowan has been on the pitch for a matter of minutes before she’s been booked. A chance for Southampton, perhaps, to break the strong Palace play and regroup.

’68 CHANCE! – Two great chances back-to-back from each other for Crystal Palace to find their equaliser. Annabel Blanchard tried her luck from distance with her shot parried away by Stenson in goal, before Blanchard would have another chance, saved this time by the woodwork! Chances are starting to pile in for the Eagles.

’65 – Substitution for Southampton – OFF 66 Aimee Palmer ON 17 Tegan Mcgowan

’61 – The home crowd is starting to feel some frustration towards the amount of fouls given up in the last five minutes of action, with the latter of which leading to a Crystal Palace corner. The subsequent corner is broken up and out from an Ashleigh Weerden shot for a goal kick.

’57YELLOW CARD (66 Aimee Palmer) – Another cynical foul from Southampton leads to the second yellow card of the game. It looked as if Palace could’ve formed a counterattack before Palmer broke the play.

’55 – First corner of the half goes to the hosts, as broken play sees Atlanta Primus with room to run in and has her shot blocked. The following corner

’54 – A scrappy start to the half, with both teams struggling to maintain constant possession of the ball. This will suit Saints who currently have the one-goal cushion.

’46 – Substitution for Crystal Palace – OFF 4 Chloe Arthur ON 20 Indiah-Paige Riley

15:05 – SECOND HALF KICK OFF

HALF TIME – SOUTHAMPTON 2 – 1 CRYSTAL PALACE:

Halftime at St Mary’s as the hosts take a 2-1 lead into the break. Both goals from Ellie Brazil broke down what had been a great start from Crystal Palace, and both in quick succession to fire the Saints firmly ahead. A great finish from Ashley Weerdun just before half-time sees the visitors well in the match, behind only by one. Thanks to a WSL trial, Saints fans will be enjoying some pints in the stands, being ahead at Half-time.

ADDED TIME – 5 MINUTES

’45 – GOAL! 2-1 (11 – ASHLEY WEERDEN) SOUTHAMPTON 2 – 1 CRYSTAL PALACE:

The visitors equalise right before the announcement of added minutes, as an intended cross from the left-hand side again from Weerden, beats Stenson over her head and lands into the right-side netting. A much-needed goal before the end of the half for the visitors from their best player in the half.

’40 – Great Southampton pressure led by captain Primus keeps Crystal Palace well in their half, and Ellie Brazil is keeping herself in the game, winning a corner from the subsequent pressure.

’35YELLOW CARD (7 – ELLIE BRAZIL) – Brazil picks up the game’s first yellow card after a tricky Weerden beats Brazil, only for the Southampton goalscorer to bring down the Eagles winger. A good ball goes into the box from the free kick, only for Saints centre-back Amy Goddard to clear away.

’30 – With Southampton switching to what looks like a now 4-5-1 formation, Crystal Palace are on the search for a goal to get themselves back in this game. A free kick from Ashleigh Weerden about 30 yards goes straight out for a goal kick.

’23 – GOAL! 2-0 (7 – ELLIE BRAZIL) SOUTHAMPTON 2 – 0 CRYSTAL PALACE:

Ellie Brazil scores her second of the afternoon in what has been a great 25 minutes for Southampton! Saints Captain Atlanta Primus finds Brazil in the box for her first shot to be blocked, and made no mistake on the second attempt. Palace keeper Jessica Shae Yanez needs some treatment following the goal.

’22 CHANCE! – A huge chance goes astray for Southampton to double their lead. A low driven ball from Brazil finds the foot of McAlonie for her to put her chance in the inside of the left post and away. Saint’s taking control of this game!

’18 – GOAL! 1-0 (7 – ELLIE BRAZIL) SOUTHAMPTON 1 – 0 CRYSTAL PALACE:

Completely against the run of play, and Southampton take the lead! A great run down the left from Michaela McAlonie ends with a clever ball into the 6-yard area, where Brazil is there with a simple finish.

’16 – The better of the chanes definitely going to Crystal Palace so far, as Weerden puts another dangerous delivery into the area that forces Southampton to clear.

’13SAVE! – First shot on target of the game goes to the Eagles, as Ashleigh Weerden’s cross from the left meets with the head of Elise Hughes, forcing a great save from Saint’s keeper Fran Stenson to her right.

‘8 – First corner of the game goes to the visitors, as Abbie Larkin’s intended cross is blocked on the right-hand side of the area. The ensuing corner is cleared away by Southampton.

‘4 – Early sustained pressure sees Southampton with more of the ball in the early moments, creating the first chance of the game, only for the shot to sail well wide of the left post.

‘1 – We’re underway on the South Coast with Southampton kicking from left to right in the first half in their traditional red and white stripes, with Crystal Palace going from right to left in their Gold away shirts.
