AFC Portchester unveil exciting 3G pitch plans

THE Isthmian League Division One South Central outfit have had plenty to celebrate in recent memory and are set to add a state-of-the-art pitch to the list with construction set to begin in summer 2026.

News was announced recently that the 2024-25 quadruple winners had been handed more than £100,000 in funding from Fareham Borough Council to turn that 3G dream into a reality at the Onsite Group Stadium.

That six figure backing formed the last piece of the financial jigsaw in a project that required £1.1 million to ensure its progression. The Hampshire FA, Football Foundation and the Premier League Stadium Fund have also backed the plan.

Club officials expect the project to be finished in time for the beginning of the 2026-27 season with it not just benefitting the first-team players but the local community as well with sessions for disabled participants and collaborations with local schools.

Paul Kelly AFC Portchester Chairman and Facilities Director added: “We first started planning this or talking about it, fifteen, twenty years ago.

“We were close to agreeing things in 2019 and then COVID hit and it all took a back seat, and then the last 18 months it has just been full on and we managed to secure the deal with the Football Foundation and Fareham Borough Council.

“[It’s] going to give everybody an opportunity to play within the stadium.”
