How mixed hockey has improved performance at Solent

THE hockey season at Solent University is in full swing and there’s a real good feel behind how all the teams are playing.

Despite losing some games both teams believe their teams are over performing.

Results might not show the impact of how much training has had an impact on the team since they have merged the mens team and womans team training sessions into one session

Training with each other can come with a lot of pressure as people might try to over perform and make themself look a lot better than they are.

However since training together a huge togetherness has formed around the whole hockey club.

This will help players bounce off each other in games and even in a losing situation you are able to help others bring their head up and keep fighting as a team.

Training mixed can also help a lot of people improve their play as they look to become better hockey players.

With the wide range of players, some playing Saturday league for outside clubs and players not played in years you can really see a change in the play.

To help each other improve the training sessions are now based on each side and what they can do as a squad.

Pressing has become a main focus over the past week and playing with people you’re not used to can help when you face a team that you have never played before.

“Making sure we can press against teams we aren’t used to playing against. ”
