Managers and Players as CAKES

WITH the Third Year Newsday’s ‘Item of the Week’ being cakes, inspired by the variety of sweet treats in the newsroom this morning, what cakes can we incorporate into Footballers names?

Angel Di Maria Cake

Quite an obvious combination to kick us off, Angel Di Maria is an Angel Cake. This one comes with options, as you can swap ‘cake’ with ‘slices’, or use players like Angel Correa or Angel Rangel instead.

Danny Swiss Röhl

A Jumbo Strawberry Swiss Roll was bought this week, so the current Rangers boss Danny Röhl gets the nod. Much like before, there are plenty of other fitting options, such as Danny Mini Röhl, or Danny Röhl-ade.

Troy Carrott Cake

Off the back of a brilliant brace last night against Portugal, Troy Parrott makes our list, becoming a carrot cake. Unfortunately for Madeira (Cake)’s finest Cristiano Ronaldo, he saw red (velvet) for the first time in his international career.

Victor-ia Sponge Lindelof

Victoria Sponge cupcakes have made an appearance, so Victor Lindelof is the choice for this one. Again there’s plenty of alternatives, as Victor Moses or Victor Wanyama could take the Swede’s place.

Danny Bakewell-beck

A classic choice, the Cherry Bakewell fuses with Danny Welbeck. A talking point of recent weeks, should Thomas Tuchel consider the ex-Arsenal and Man United striker in his World Cup squad?

Declan Rice Cake

Very self-explanatory this one, Arsenal’s number 41 becomes a Rice Cake. Less of a sweet treat, but it certainly deserves to be included.

Dennis Batten-Bergkamp

Sticking with the Arsenal train, one of the Premier League’s greatest players combines with a Battenberg Cake. An excellent incorporation.

Kevin De Brownie

If you actually pronounce his name correctly, Kevin De Bruyne’s name sounds like Kevin De Brownie.

Scone Heung Min

Another straightforward swap, the Spurs Legend becomes Scone Heung Min.

Omar Marmoush Mallow

It’s not a cake but still a sweet treat, Man City’s Egyptian Prince blends with a Marshmallow. Simple but very effective.

Hugo Eki-Tea Cake

My personal favourite of the lot, Hugo Ekitike becomes Hugo-Ate-a-Tea Cake.
