ON the 18th of April 2023 following a 3-0 loss to Wrexham it confirmed a fourth relegation in the space of 10 years.

The fears were as bad as ever with fans fearing they wouldn’t have a team to support next season.

This comes after ex owner Scott Priestnall hadn’t been paying the players and staff for several months.

Now six months on the Glovers are back on the rise under the new ownership of Martin Hellier.

The revival continued on the weekend after a convincing 2-0 victory over higher league opposition Southend United in the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup with goals coming from Jake Wannell and Jordan Young confirming their place in the first round proper.

This result makes it seven wins on the bounce in all competitions for Yeovil for the first time since 2019. In addition, they have already equalled the amount of wins they accumulated last season in the National League.

Next up in the FA Cup for the Green and White Army is another home tie against Gateshead which will be played during the first week of November.

Gateshead of the National League side are currently flying high as they occupy 6th position in the league under the management of Mike Williamson, although he might not be in charge for the tie after holding managerial talks with League Two side MK Dons after they sacked Graham Alexander.

While both sets of fans will admit it isn’t the most exciting draw in the world, both teams will be fancying their chances of making the second round of the competition.
