Wales have drawn Finland in their EURO 2024 play-off semi final, with the winner facing either Poland or Estonia in the same week to earn a spot in the tournament proper.
The Dragons were in touching distance of automatic qualification, but after drawing 1-1 to Turkey and with Croatia beating Armenia 1-0 on Tuesday, they were forced to fight for their place through the play-off instead.
Their participation in League A of the Nations League guaranteed that they would play their play-off semi final at home, and first team manager Robert Page was ecstatic to have his side play such a massive fixture in Cardiff.
Page claimed that Wales feel unbeatable in front of their own fans at the moment.
He said: “I don’t think any team in that group would have been wanting to play us (at home).
“The form we’re in at the minute and the Red Wall (Wales’ supporters), we’ll take anyone on in Cardiff.
“It’s a great opportunity for us; we’re two wins at home (away) from qualification for another major tournament.”
Who stood out for Wales in the EURO 2024 Qualifiers?
Harry Wilson finished Wales’ EURO 2024 qualifier campaign as their top scorer, and certainly looked like one of their stand-out stars.
The Dragons scored 10 goals in eight games, with the winger scoring three and finishing as their top scorer.
Wilson plays his club football for Fulham and is the youngest Welsh player of all time having made his debut at 16 years and 207 days – breaking a record set by Gareth Bale.
Wales will play Finland on March 21st, and the winner will take on either Poland or Estonia five days later in the play-off final.
