WITH the Big Game taking place over the weekend, UK fans have found a new obsession the NFL.

A record 3.4 million unique viewers tuned in, marking a 48% increase year-on-year, with younger audiences driving much of the growth and highlighting the sport’s rising popularity across the UK.

The NFL now brings regular-season games to England every year, with fixtures hosted at two of London’s most iconic sporting venues: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wembley Stadium. The atmosphere at these games continues to be electric, reflecting the league’s expanding fanbase and growing cultural impact.

Solent Sports News caught up with Josh Wyatt-Jones, who spoke to UK fans about their excitement for the NFL, the spectacle of the sport, and how interest continues to grow each season. He also interviewed Ben Lester, President of the Solent RedHawks, who described the rise of American football in the UK as “a great underdog story.”

The Super Bowl remains the pinnacle of the NFL calendar, drawing in millions of viewers worldwide and further strengthening the sport’s profile in the UK. One notable figure highlighting this connection is Aden Durde, an English-born defensive coordinator, whose success at the highest level of the game shows just how far American football has come in Britain.

With interest continuing to surge, the future looks bright for the NFL in the UK and perhaps one day, the Big Game itself could take over London on one of sport’s most iconic weekends.
