Southampton Look to do the Double Over Leicester

LEICESTER City host a Southampton side who haven’t lost in their last four fixtures tonight at the King Power Stadium at 19:45.

Pointless in their last four, Leicester will be looking to escape the ever-looming prospect of a relegation fight after their recent points deduction – sitting 21st only avoiding the drop zone on goal difference, with Blackburn Rovers being seven goals worse off.

Southampton are 11 points above them in 14th, now just four points off the playoff places. So far this season the Saints have been riddled with inconsistency winning just 11 of their 31 games, but have picked up 10 points in their last four games.

Last time these two met in the Championship at The King Power Stadium the home team left their supporters shocked as they lay Southampton to the way-side as they won 5-0, on their way to the Championship title and automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Back in November, St. Marys played host to the Foxes. In Tonda Eckert’s fourth game as interim manager for Southampton and a perfect run of three wins heading into the game. Southampton came out as 3-0 victors, ending Leicester’s three game undefeated streak in the process.

Both sides have been victorious in this fixture on 27 occasions and 20 of the 74 affairs have ended in a stalemate.

Midweek matches haven’t been kind to Leicester recently, as they are winless in their last 11 of them. Coincidentally their last midweek win came in the aforementioned 5-0 victory over Southampton in April 2024.

Last month’s 2-0 win over Stoke ended Southampton’s six game run without an away win. They now look to go back-to-back on the road for the first time since November and only for the Second time in the last two seasons.
