MERCEDES young starlet Kimi Antonelli has been involved in a car accident just days before the start of the Bahrain testing series.
The Italian has escaped any potential injuries as was ‘unhurt’ according to a statement made by Mercedes.
This took place near his home in San Marino as the 19-year-old is gearing up for his second season in Formula One, looking to make the next leap from his three podiums of last season.
The first day of the Bahrain testing begins on Wednesday with the crash not expected to affect his racing programme.
No injuries were sustained by anyone as there are no other vehicles that are understood to have been involved in the crash, yet Antonelli’s £180,000 Mercedes AMG suffered relative damage.
Heading into the new season, Antonelli will have high hopes with the new batch of regulations to the car heading into the new 2026 season with both him and George Russell reportedly impressing at the first shakedown in Barcelona two weeks ago.
Antonelli previously spoke about his excitement at the journey back into the new season ahead of Bahrain.
“I am already looking forward to being back in the car in Bahrain for the first official test though and continuing the journey towards the start of the season.”
He continues, “We will go there with a good understanding of the car and hopefully we can hit the ground running once again.”
