There have been plenty of Draft shocks and notorious moments down the years. From Aaron Rodgers’ lonely wait in the green room, to Eli Manning refusing to play in San Diego or even the seven quarterbacks that were picked ahead of the great Tom Brady.
Now, there’s a new name added to that list. The son of the great Deion Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes Quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
The pre-draft predictions were that he was supposed to be picked in the top five, most likely by the New York Giants. These are a prime example of why they are named predictions and are certainly not the final say.
Sanders would not only miss the first round and day in Green Bay, but he’d have to wait until day three and round five to be selected by the Cleveland Browns, at a staggering 144th pick.
There’s been much speculation about why such a high-profile talent would drop so low in the draft. Reasons vary from poor interviews with franchises or his father playing a role in his development. Some teams needed a Quarterback, but all teams apart from the Browns, turned down the opportunity to acquire the talents of Sanders, with chances even in the later rounds.
On the other end of the draft, Cam Ward achieved the number one pick as the Miami Quarterback moves up to Nashville and the Tennessee Titans.
As a franchise that has struggled to find its newest quarterback since the successes of the 2019 season with Ryan Tannehill, the Titans will hope Cam Ward is the next name in lights in Nashville for a long time.
On this episode of the Sport or Nothing Podcast, Cameron Jarvis is joined by NFL journalist Max Freeman and Max Lasky, a D1 college athletic researcher, as they investigate the Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward picks and the team with they believe had the most success from the draft.
