A brief look ahead to this Sunday’s reversed FAWNL fixture in Bristol.
Southampton are on their travels this weekend for their first FA Women’s National League Division One South West fixture of the season.
Keynsham currently sit eighth in the League table after drawing 1-1 with Portishead last Sunday.
They have also already been in action this week, playing Swindon Town in the Determining Round of the FAWNL League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Bristol side lost 3-1 with Naomi Clipston scoring their single goal.
The defeat means they will now enter the draw for the FAWNL Plate competition.
This weekend’s game will be the first under Aaron Smith’s new management since his return to Southampton as the club chairman last week.
The Sirens’ last visit to Keynsham saw them leave with a point, having drawn 0-0 back in March.
The Southampton First Team has seen many changes over this year’s pre-season with a handful of new faces added to the squad since the end of 2023/24 (the full squad is yet to be announced).
Laura Vokes remains as the club captain, having taken on the role half-way through last season following Chloe Tucker’s long-term injury.
Vokes is a stalwart of the club, and earned her 150th cap for Southampton in December 2023.
Contests between Southampton and Keynsham have often produced mixed results in both First Team and Reserves matches, and this weekend will be the Sirens’ first opportunity to get some points on the board.
