Only Time Will Tell Whether It’s Mission Completed…

Approaching the Christmas period, currently sat joint top, AFC Stoneham are looking to finally break out of the league and get promoted.

The Purps are currently sat top of the Velocity Wessex Football League with 40 points along with East Hampshire side Petersfield Town with the Southampton side having a game in hand.

Currently on a 6 game win streak in all competition since their last lost, which came on the 1st November to Brockenhurst, Stoneham are still yet to play 4 more games until the new year, 3 of them in the league.

They are set to play Bournemouth Poppies at home on Saturday where they are looking to take all 3 point to continue their win streak and stay top of the table.

After already being knocked out of the Hampshire Senior Cup by Step 3 Sholing FC and the FA Cup First Round Qualifying by Hungerford Town,

The Purps still remain in the Russell Cotes CupSDFA Senior Cup and ISUZU FA Vase and can’t afford a slip up in the league and take all the points possible.

Defender Ash Wells Spoke on what promotion would mean for the club,

” How much work goes on behind the scenes I think all of them deserve that,

“I cant say how much they mean to the club”

As well as Ash Wells, Midfielders Mat Bainbridge and Owen Fee both had their say on what promotion would mean,

Mat Bainbridge

” for all the coaches and staff, over the years I’ve been at the club, I think it would be a monumental achievement,

“I think I would be really happy.”

Owen Fee

” I think it would be a big thing for the club and for personally the club and players have been working hard for the last 3 years to get promoted,

” To get the club up to where it should be at step 4, would be a big thing.”

After failing back to back promotion finishing 2nd for the last 2 years running, AFC Stoneham will be looking to break that curse and go on get the job done.

With just over 20 games left in the league, will they do it?

Well only time will tell!
