WITH February being Heart Month Sky Bet, the BHF and the EFL are working together to mobilize football fans across the nation. The campaign’s aim is to get half a million people to save hearts all over the UK.
Over the weekend thirty-six EFL fixtures kicked off one minute later than scheduled but for what reason?
This campaign aimed to engage 270,000 people to start learning CPR using the British Heart Foundation’s free RevivR tool by May 2025.
The minute represents the clear reminder that every minute matters when it comes to performing life-saving CPR.
Sam Farris-Clark and Tiana Mawalu spoke to Eloise Morris a Solent University student studying sport fitness to get her insight into the importance of life saving training.

According to Resuscitation Council UK “CPR by itself will not restart the heart, but it ‘buys time’ for the emergency medical services to reach the scene. Effective CPR more than doubles the chance of someone surviving a cardiac arrest.”
Tom Lockyer suffered a cardiac arrest in December during a Premier League game at Bournemouth.
