Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has just beaten Max Verstappen’s quickest time to lead the timing sheets in the final day of pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Defending world champion Verstappen previously put in the fastest lap but that was bettered by the Monegasque with a 1:30.409, the best time set by any driver over the past three days.
The session was brought to a halt early on, the action being red-flagged due to a loose drain cover at Turn 11 of the track.
Just over an hour of time was missed due to the track being under repair earlier in the morning session.
The session was resumed at 11:45 local time and it will run continuously until 19:00 with no break.
Red Bull and Max Verstappen will be the ones to catch again this season, after a memorable season where the team won all but one of the 22 races, with champion Verstappen winning 19 of them.
The Dutchman set the fastest time on the opening day of testing and it is beloved the new RB20 is already up to a second clear of the field.
Verstappen ran all day on Day 1, completing 143 laps, more than two full Grand Prix’s, with no obvious problems.
The first Grand Prix is taking place next weekend from 29 February – 2 March, with Bahrian hosting to season opener next weekend.
