LEGO have some brand new sets coming out on Friday but the ones that will really catch sports fans eyes are the Formula 1 kits.
The Danish company have four F1 models coming out this week including a touching tribute set to the late Ayrton Senna.
This build-able model is based on the Brazilian’s McLaren MP4/4 which he drove in 1988 and will be constructed of 693 pieces retailing at £69.99.
The set features the iconic Shell logo, the Honda and McLaren badge, and Senna’s number 12 on the side of the legendary red and white car.
The model will also include an exclusive Ayrton Senna Mini-figure with a printed helmet representing the yellow and green of his country.
This isn’t the only set coming from McLaren however, as they also have a smaller car in the Lego Speed Champions range.
These are usually built to scale with the Lego mini figures and this time it’s the car that saw Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri race their first season together as teammates.
We are talking about the bright papaya rocket that raced in the 2023 F1 season and its vibrant colours have been represented well in just 245 pieces.
The Google Chrome wheel covers look as good on this set as they do in real life and also, Lego, who are the biggest manufacturer of tyres in the world have created a new slick tyre design just for this toy.
This set also includes a mini figure but it doesn’t represent any driver in particular, it just has the racing overalls on with a tangerine helmet.
The £20.99 price tag makes this model a great way for someone who hasn’t built Lego before to start collecting and build their way up to something bigger.
Moving on to Mercedes AMG F1 Team and they have two sets coming out at the start of next month as well.
Both are based on the W14 from the 2023 season which was driven by seven time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and his teammate George Russell.
The cheaper of the two is the Lego Technic pull back car which is the only F1 set of this wave with the pull back and go feature.
Even with the technical elements that can make it move and the 240 piece count, the car still looks really good as a display piece and this is also £20.99 so again, it would be a good place to start if you are new to Lego.
However, Lego Technic is a bit different to the normal Lego bricks used in the two McLaren sets.
Like it says in its name, it is a bit more technical so might be more difficult for a beginner to build so this might push you towards buying one of the McLaren sets.
If you are really committed to Formula 1, Lego or Mercedes, then the biggest set of this wave will give you the adrenaline that goes through any F1 driver when they hop into a car.
A whopping 1642 pieces and a dent of £189.99 in your wallet will get you a stunning 1:8 model of the Mercedes W14 and boy does it look good.
This breathtaking set has an immense attention to detail such as a movable DRS wing, steerable wheels, and is covered in stickers of the various sponsors that are on the real car.
The excitement has been rapidly building around these sets and others that will be releasing on March 1st and Lego are expecting stores to be extremely busy but this just reflects the popularity of F1 right now.
To buy all four of these sets would set you back £301.96 which is steep but the fact they look fantastic can’t be ignored.
The Lego store will be full of eager racers waiting for the chance to take pole position when picking up these sets.
