Southampton defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis has withdrawn from the U21’s England squad after picking up a hamstring injury.
Harvey Elliot replaced him as captain in Lee Carsley’s side as they blew Serbia out of water by a score of 9-1.
Elliot was one of three England players to net a brace, along with Jaden Philogene and Noni Madueke.
Philogene also picked himself up an assist, giving him a debut to remember.
The 21 year old has started the previous six league games under Russel Martin and the Hampshire club has said they will assess the injury before declaring the recovery period to fans.
The injury to Harwood-Bellis leaves the Saints defensive ranks even weaker, with captain Jack Stephens still hampered by a thigh injury he suffered in August.
That leaves Pole Jan Bednarek as one of the only senior defenders in the squad.
This could open the door for a return for Shea Charles to return at centre back, who last filled that role in a 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town at St. Mary’s.
Another potential returnee could be Mason Holgate. The Englishman, who is on loan from premier league club Everton, has only made three appearances, one of which he was subbed off at half time by Martin away to Middlesbrough.
He has failed to play a full 90 minutes and has only started two games since joining on loan so he could look to bounce back with a starting spot having been freed up.
Southampton travel to Hull looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games.
