EMMA Raducanu has retired in the first-round of the Qatar Open against Camila Osorio.
The British number one had her blood pressure taken at the beginning of the third and final set after Osorio took an early 2-0 lead.
Just two days earlier Raducanu had lost the Transylvania Open final against Sorana Cirstea 6-0 6-2, and hoped to try and bounce back with another deep tournament run.
The 23-year-old also had her blood taken in that match too, with it being revealed that she was fighting a “chest infection” during the match.
The British number one had dominated the first set against Osorio which was reflected in the 6-2 scoreline.
However the Colombian international fought back to claim the second set 6-4, with the tie set up nicely for a deciding set.
However Raducanu’s injury woes continued to haunt her, as at the start of the third set she called for her trainer after being broken by Osorio.
The world No. 25 tried to continue despite being in discomfort, but after her opponent held serve for a 2-0 lead, she informed the umpire of her decision to retire from the match.
It’s just another chapter in Raducanu’s ever-growing injury notebook, an all too familiar end to yet another tournament.
