DAVID Diaper will leave his post after 25 years of management, overseeing more than 1000 games for Sholing F.C.
The club released a statement late last night in which they announced David Diapers departure , with a heart felt message from the man himself reminiscing on some of his favourite moments as leader of the boatmen.
“As I prepare to embark on a new chapter in my football journey I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the incredible journey we’ve shared over the last 25 years”.
“it has been an honour and privilege to manage this club and the countless players across the years and I really appreciate the support you’ve all shown me throughout my tenure”.
During the statement , Diaper stated that his last game will be on the 21st of October against Hungerford Town whilst also confirming his replacement , former Havant and Waterloo F.C manager Paul Doswell
“My last game will be October 21st then I am stepping into my new role of Head of Football Operations at Sholing and I’m delighted to announce that I am appointing Paul Doswell as our new first team manager. I’ve personally known Paul for over 30 years and watched him manage at the highest level of non league football and we are excited to welcome Paul to the club.”
It is not goodbye though for the face of Hampshire football and Sholing however, as Diaper hints at a different role within the club working with the new manager.
“Whilst this may mark a change in my role, it’s by no means a goodbye. I remain deeply invested in the continued success and growth of this club and I’m really looking forward to working with Paul and creating a new and exciting next chapter in the club’s history.”
With over 1000 games played , one FA vase winners medal , six Southampton senior cups , two time Hampshire league champions and a super impressive 65% win rate , David Diaper will be immortalised in Sholing and non-league football history.
