Southampton Sunday League round-up
CLAYD Roach worked out with a hat-trick as Butlocks Heath flexed their muscles in readiness to pick up a heavy haul of trophies with a convincing cup win over Chamberlayne.
Roach notched all three as Heath eased part Chamberlayne into the third round of the Trophyman AJ Miller Trophy with a 3-0 win which would have sent shudders down the spines of the Division One leaders.
Chamberlayne’s lead at the top is already looking as shaky as a pooping whippet with Taurus moving to within one point with a game in hand after their 1-0 win over Madeinheath United, thanks to Sam Pearce’s goal.
But Butlocks Heath would need to blow up in spectacular fashion as they trail the leaders by two points with just the four games in hand.
Joining Butlocks Heath in the third round of the AJ Miller Trophy are Division Two Mottisfont whose 6-0 win over Division One cellar dwellers Newton Heath can hardly be seen as an upset
Harry Dancer, Mat Bosanquet, Ali Ingram, Alfie Borland, Paul Toomer and George West were all on target as the goals were democratically shared around.#
Semi-final spots on the DR Ryder Trophy were clinched by Cranbourne and West Totton wanderers.
Josh Carey (2), George Webb and Lawrence Parnell were on the money as Cranbourne eased past Holly Hill Hawks, and Nathan Gray and Even Nelson earned West Totton a 2-0 win over Solent United Reds.
In Division One, Landguard Rovers picked up a useful point in a 2-2 draw with Wildern Wanderers. Tunde Akintolu and Iyaaz Cawsey scored for Rovers, with Jordan Gallgaher and Matt Croft replying for Wildern.
AFC Shirley made a real statement of intent in the Division Two title race with a a 7-1 mauling of leaders Langley Tavern.
Callum Parker’s quartet, two from Harry Yeadon and a Craig Hunt single maintained Shirley’s 100 percent record and holed Langley’s (Callum Adams) hopes below the waterline.
Similar tale in Division Three where Woolston T&L replaced AFC Hythe after coming from 2-0 down to win.
Charlie Lent and Jamie Cooley had Hythe in control at half-time, but second half strikes from George Fairless (2) and Archie Waldock turned the game on its head. Hythe have a game in hand but goal difference could yet be important in this title race.
London Airways (Connall Royle, Tom Brooker, Ricky Handley) prised a potentially precious point from their 3-3 draw with AFC Netley Sunday (Sam Bessant 2, Nick Robbins) but Cottage are in a bad state of repair after a 6-1 thumping by Wyvern Youth Reds.
Lewis Nagle’s hat-trick led the way with singles from Owen Hurst, Lai Mason and Brandon Foster completing the scoring, and James Moorman providing Cottage’s consolation.
Southern Sports (Ry Williams 2, Andy Powell 2, Luke Corsham, Martin Hall and Aaron Burnett) thumped Halfway Inn (Adam Shepherd) 7-1 in Division Four where there was also a 5-0 win for Spike Islander (Ryan Wagstaffe, Tom Whitmore, Cortney Texeira, Connor Wilson 2) over Royale Marine.
It was the Tom Ashton show as Monks Brook stretched their lead at the top of Division Five with a 4-3 win over Unathletic Athletic. Ashton scored all four for Brooks with Sam Kirkham, Alix Taylor and an og replying for Athletic.
Jimi John Jordan notched twice as South Coast maintained their lead at the top of Division Six with Derek Shanahan adding a third in a 3-1 win over AFC Paxton.
Oliver Burroughs (2) led the way for AFC Hiltingbury in their 7-0 win over AFC Netley Reserves, with James Feist, Toby Coombes and Mark McIlkenny also on the scoresheet.
While runaway Division Seven leaders Linden Tree took a rest the teams below did an impersonation of two bald men fighting over a comb.
Lyndhurst Sunday Reserves grabbed it for first use with a 7-1 win over BTC Sunday Reds (Euan Harder). Ryan Hartley and Lee Stickland both downed doubles, with Craig Stickland, Cam Vincent and Ben Coundley sealed the win for Lyndhurst.
Louis Cooper’s hat-trick and a single from Eric Barnes gave Newchester a 4-0 win over Bishopstoke WMC, while Adam Burt, Luke Smith and Connor Salter earned Bombay Boys a 3-1 win over Solent Sports Hamble.
Bursledon United stay top of Division Eight with a 3-1 win over M&T, thanks to goals from Ryan Long, Owen Cox and Charlie Gordon, with Chris Walcroft replying for M&T.
But Wimpson fired out a warning with a 12-0 burning of AFC Eastleigh.
John Callaway notched a hat-trick and Liam Prince and Jack Cullan two each, but the rest lined up to fill their boots with Connor Baigent, Daniel Salmon, Lee Harris, Pawel Burdzy and Robert Lamb all on target.
Chris Cunningham’s hat-trick clinched Holly Hill Reserves a 3-2 win over AFC Southside (Kieron Roper, Scott Knight) while Barleycorn A spread the goals around in their 5-3 win over Compton.
Jeffrey Akpotaire, Bryn Kellaway, Bradley Flooks, Andrew Gregory and Ben Butterworth were on the money for Barleycorn with Jarod Drury (2) and Caius McEwan replying for Compton.
