Arsenal travel to Highbury for their Carabao Cup 4th round clash

ARSENAL will be playing at the Highbury Stadium for their Carabao Cup fixture tonight, however they will not be returning to their old ground, instead travelling to the home of Fleetwood Town.

The Gunners are looking to progress into the quarter-finals of the competition for the third year in a row, and also improve on their final defeat to Manchester City last year.

League Two outfit Fleetwood Town have beaten Championship side Sheffield United as well as same division teams Shrewsbury and Chesterfield on their historic run.

Mikel Arteta may start 16-year-old star Max Dowman tonight, the forward scored a brace against fellow Premier league side Ipswich Town in the last round.

The Premier League champions will be without Bukayo Saka as he is out for six to eight weeks over a quadricep injury.

Fleetwood will be looking to follow the footsteps of the historic Bradford City team that made the Carabao Cup final as a fourth tier side in 2013.

The Bradford side were the first League Two team to reach the final in 50 years in 2013, also beating Arsenal 2-1 on their route to Wembley.

Cod Army manager Matt Lawlor has said “being able to represent the town on the national stage is amazing and i’ glad we are welcoming the champions of last year to Highbury.”

The last time Arsenal were upset in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in a Highbury Stadium was in 1983 where they lost 2-1 to third tier Walsall.
