SOLENT University students will be taking part in a record 36 fixtures across a range of sports at Chapel Gate Sports Park in Bournemouth.
The annual university sporting event sees Solent take on their south-coast rivals at Bournemouth University with some new sports being added to the lineup this year.
Introductions of fixtures in new sports including ultimate frisbee, CrossFit and 3×3 basketball will see record participants in both the indoor and outdoor editions of the event.
The indoor competition which takes place at the Solent Sports Complex on the 24th April will kick off the event and showcase the talent of student-athletes between the two universities.
The spectacle will then turn to outdoor sports at Chapel Gate in Bournemouth on the 1st May with tickets now available to supporters.
Solent Tennis Captain, Ed Cameron (pictured) spoke of what the event meant to him “I’m looking forward to getting in loads of game time, playing against new people and enjoying the sport for what it is”.
Varsity is a celebrated moment for first-year students “Personally, I’m excited to go play there for the first time, I’ve heard a lot of hype about the event so keen to see how it lives up to its name” added the pioneer who is Solent’s first tennis captain in four years.
From bars to interactive stalls from local sporting brands, Varsity offers an immersive experience for supporters as well as the players at the event.
With the sports societies who are competing at the event having their respective seasons draw to a close, they will be turning their preparation to Varsity which is the most prestigious student sporting event on the calendar.
Students can buy their tickets to participate at the reception in the Solent Sports Complex with supporter tickets available at Chapel Gate on the day.
