TEENAGE sensation Kobbie Mainoo scored a 97th minute winner to secure the three points for Mancherster United in a 4-3 win at Wolves.
The 18 year old put together a very composed finish taking on four players to finesse the ball into the bottom right hand corner.
Mainoo has now scored in two consecutive games netting last Sunday in United’s 4-2 FA Cup win against Newport County.
The central midfielder described the experience as “A dream coming true”.
He said; “I have still not come down from it. I still feel like I am dreaming to be honest.
“To start playing in the Premier League for my boyhood club has been amazing. Now it’s about trying to win more games.”
Manchester United were in a 3-1 lead in the second half where goals from Max Kilman and Pedro Neto equalled the game at 3-3 motivating Mainoo to go on a composed run to win the game for the reds.
Mainoo is the latest teenage star to come through the United ranks and burst on to the Premier League stage.
Four of the past five 90th-minute winning goals in the Premier League by players aged 18 or younger have been for United: Federico Macheda in 2009, Marcus Rashford in 2016, Alejandro Garnacho in 2022 and now Mainoo.
Rasmus Hojlund who was also on the score sheet in during United’s win praised his teammate Mainoo calling him a “generational talent”
“You can see his composure, he is so relaxed on the ball. So much quality on the ball. Now he’s also starting to show that he has the scoring parts of his game as well. He’s a complete player.”
“It’s not about taking the responsibility, he’s so relaxed, so calm, he knows his quality and he knows when he goes out there he’s going to perform. Everybody knows that from the team and you guys can see it as well now. He’s a top player.”
With Mainoo’s quality starting to catch more eyes in the world of football. The question now is. Just how high is Kobbie Mainoo’s potential?
