RED Bull’s sister team Visa Cash App RB have hired former Alpine Sporting Director Alan Permane as their new Racing Director.

The 56-year-old spent 34 years with the French manufacturer, but was sacked after the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix, alongside team principal Otmar Szafnaur and Chief Technical Officer Pat Fry.

Speaking on his new role Permane said: “After a few months of downtime, it’s great to return to racing again with the Visa Cash App RB team.

“From long experience, I know how professional, driven and competitive the people within this race team are and I can’t wait to see where that spirit can take the team in the future.”

Alongside Permane, Tim Goss (who spent 28 years with McLaren) has joined as Chief Technical Officer and Guilaume Cattelani has been appointed as Deputy Technical Director.

In April, the competitor located in Faenza Italy. announced that Ferrari Racing Director Laurent Mekies would join the team as team principal, replacing Franz Tost.

Following the announcement Mekies said: “The appointments of Tim, Guillaume and Alan add a vast amount of winning expertise to the team, and I have no doubt that they will help take the team to the next level in F1.”

The new recruitments come after Red Bull’s second team (previously known as Alpha Tauri and Torro Rosso) finished eighth in the 2023 Constructors Standings, on just 25 points, their lowest tally since since 2010.
