2026 Timbersports World Championships to Chop Off in Stuttgart Tonight

THE biggest event in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTSĀ® calendar gets underway tonight as the world’s finest wood chopping competitors battle it out for glory.

Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart, Germany is already a sell-out with athletes sharpening their axes and saw’s in preparation.

20 countries from across the globe will first compete in the team event tonight starting at 8:00 PM CET.

The elite individual athletes will then have a small window to rest, with the Individual World Championships set to commence 24 hours later.

12 of the best in Timbersports, including New Zealand Pro Champion Shane Jordan, Canadian pro “The Captain” Ben Cumberland and British champion Glen Penlington will all be in action.

Competition this year is fierce, with a variety of disciplines including the crowd favourite Hot Saw, Underhand Chop, Stock Saw, Standing Block, Single Buck and Springboard all set to be heavily contested.

In the Hot Saw event, competitors use a multi-horsepower chainsaw to cut through three discs, making it one of the loudest events.

The Underhand Chop also requires high levels of concentration for another reason. Athletes stand on a vertical log before hitting the wood between their feet with power and precision.

This will be the fourth time that Stuttgart has hosted the event, having done so in 2013, 2016 and 2023. The 2023 edition boasted a bumper crowd of 6,500 fans.

The Australian “Chopperoos” are the team to beat in the team event and have remained undefeated since 2018.

The team from Down Under will be looking to add another title to their trophy cabinet having won the event ten times already.

Despite tickets already being sold out, you can watch the STIHL TIMBERSPORTSĀ® World Championships live on the official YouTube Channel.
