ENGLAND captain Harry Kane claimed that his most recent milestone is “among the best of his career” after equalling the Men’s appearance record last night.
The Bayern Munich striker scored a brace as England cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic at Wembley.
Kane drew level with the tally set by legendary goalkeeper Peter Shilton in July 1990 by making his 125th appearance in front of 78,000 fans.
Due to break into a class of his own next month against Croatia, the Ballon d’Or frontrunner maintains that it is his privilege to represent his country.
“I’ve reached a lot of milestones throughout my career. Looking back to my international debut and how even that was a dream come true for me, this just tops it all,” Kane reflected at full-time.
“I love coming to every England camp, playing in every game and representing my country in the best way possible.
“Tonight was a special night. The most important thing will always be the result. It’s about the team, not just me.
“But to help get the result with a couple of goals and finish the week out strongly helped make it a perfect night for me.
“It’s beyond my wildest dreams. To be joint now at 125 appearances is an extreme privilege.”
Kane made his England debut in March 2015, scoring just 80 seconds after replacing Wayne Rooney in a 4-0 win over Lithuania.
11 years on, the former Tottenham striker shed light on the attitude required to reach this achievement.
“I don’t know if I always thought that I’d make it to where I have done, I always had a lot of self-belief and was perhaps committed to doing more than others.
“I combined the talent that I knew I had with a lot of hard work and commitment. From the moment I got my first opportunity, I was able to take it.
“From that moment, it was about not letting it go. To not only reach the highest level but also maintain it, you have to remain hungry and always strive for more.
“Sometimes you see people reach the top and think that it’s time to take their foot off the gas. For me, it’s exactly the opposite.
“I’m coming off the back of my best season ever domestically, and I’ve started this campaign really well too. For me, it’s about working hard to maintain those standards.”
Kane netted six times in England’s four matches over the international break, including a brace against Croatia in a 7-0 demolition.
The Three Lions sit second in their Nations League group, with a narrow 3-2 loss to Spain in September the only blot on their record thus far.
