The Spitfires manager, Richard Hill, stressed how ’embarrassed’ he was of his team’s performance as they fell short against bottom of the table, Maidenhead United.
Goals from Remy Clerima, Ashley Nathaniel-George and Reece Smith ended the Magpies 13 game winless run in the National League which condemned Eastleigh to two defeats in a week.
Even a Scott Quigley brace wasn’t enough to claim any points at York Road as Hill urged his team were simply not good enough.
“That performance was not good enough, I am actually embarrassed of that performance”. Fumed Hill.
“It’s okay to start playing at two nil down but the design of the game, they sat deep.
“I have told the players that is not acceptable, you can’t come away from home and start a football game like that.”
Eastleigh were without talisman Paul McCallum as the striker was unavailable due to injury and missed his presence.
“All of those performances are not good enough [for this football club].” Continued the 60-year-old.
“We need to start and see the best way of how we get better.
“I could have changed [all] 11 players before half-time.
“There are things I need to improve on but there are a lot the players need to improve on.”
Hill replaced former Eastleigh manager, Lee Bradbury, in August after a poor start to the season as interim boss initially before taking the role on a permanent basis several weeks later.
This is his second stint as the Spitfires manager after guiding the Hampshire side to the National League play-off semi-finals where they lost to Grimsby Town over two legs in the 2014/15 campaign.
