A goalless draw at the Easter Monday lunchtime kick-off, was enough for Como to go four points clear in the Champions League spots, whilst Udinese continue to float in mid-table.

The draw means Como remain in 4th, occupying the final Champions League spot, although a win would have taken them six points clear of Roma who lost yesterday to Inter Milan, and Juventus who play later against Genoa, giving the Bianconeri the chance to close the gap down to a single point.

Como’s 5 game winning streak in Serie A also came to an end, meaning Cesc Fabregas‘ side dropped points for the first time since a 1-1 draw against AC Milan at the San Siro, back in February.

Como managed to keep another clean sheet and maintain their record as the leagues best defence, whilst a point for Udinese means they stay in 11th place, with little to play for in the remaining 7 matches.

Story of the Match

Udinese manager Kosta Runjaic was forced into one change with top scorer Keinan Davis missing through suspension, he was replaced by Jakub Piotrowski as Nicolò Zaniolo was pushed into the lone-striker role.

Cesc Fàbregas made three changes to his Como side that put five past Pisa, as Ivan Smolčić and Álex Valle came in for Ignace van der Brempt and Alberto Moreno in the fullback areas, whilst in midfield, Maxence Caqueret replaced the injured Jesús Rodríguez.

Aside from a tame Nico Paz longshot, landing right in the hands of Udinese keeper Maduka Okoye, the first half was largely a non-event that ended goalless.

An Udinese free-kick hit straight into the wall and then a Como shot from Anastasios Douvikas, saved by the Okoye, gave hope that the second half would be a livelier contest.

That turned out to be a false alarm, as the game petered out into a stop-start contest, marred by constant fouling and eventually ending in a rather predictable goalless draw.
