BARNET could double the trouble they’ve given Crawley this afternoon with a victory, after their defeat to Newport last weekend sank the Red Devils to within a point of the drop.
Crawley will look to end their dire run of form, having gone nine games without a win stretching back to January—a string of results that has seen the Reds score just three times.
The Bees’ defeat to the South Wales side allowed Newport to climb out of the relegation zone and above Crawley into 21st.
The position is made more uncomfortable still as 23rd-place Barrow breathe down Crawley’s neck with a game in hand.
Relegation for Crawley would be their second in a row after dropping out of League One following a hard-fought campaign last year that left many fans optimistic.
The southern side’s form may not be as poor as it looks at first glance.
Out of Crawley’s last five games, they’ve drawn four, including recent hard-fought draws with 6th-place Swindon, 7th-place Chesterfield, and 2nd-place MK Dons.
Many of the side’s troubles come from a lack of goals to clinch wins or bail them out, with an average of 0.95 goals per game.
Unlike Crawley, however, Barnet are in unpredictable form, winning two and losing two of their last four, leaving the Reds unsure of how their opponents will turn up.
A win tonight could see the Reds build confidence going forward after a tough run, but they still may not move up the table if Newport can shock league leaders Bromley at home.
Solent Sports News will be reporting live from the match tonight, and you can tune into both radio and TV shows for live reports via YouTube.
