CHELSEA boss Liam Rosenior believes his side are not out of their EFL Cup Semi-final against Arsenal, but knows the one-goal deficit will be difficult to overcome at the Emirates.
After suffering a 3-2 defeat in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, the Blues will have to inflict Arsenal with just their second home defeat of the season if they are secure Wembley berth.
The new Chelsea boss has acknowledged that his team are underdogs in this tie, but knows with only a one goal difference, one moment is all it takes to turn a match on its head.
He said: “The reality is Arsenal are favourites for the title and they are a goal up at home, so they are expected to go through. We need to take it as far as we can, as deep as we can.”
The Gunners are favourites to achieve their first cup final since 2020 – where they won 2-1 against Chelsea in the FA Cup before defeat Liverpool in the Community Shield less than a month later.
However, the World Champions will not go down without a fight, and have shown in the last year that they have the ability to blow any team out of the water.
Rosenior added: “The group won two trophies last year. They can play in big games, they can perform in big games.”
To claim the World title, Chelsea defeated current European champions Paris Saint-Germain 3-0; if they are able to replicate the performance from seven months ago, one goal suddenly looks very manageable.
The winner will play the victor of Manchester City and Newcastle, with the score currently 2-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side.
