IT’S been over a month since the appointment of Southampton first team manager, Ivan Juric.
The Croatian manager, who was sacked by former club Roma last year, took over from former boss Russel Martin who was sacked by the reds last month.
Martin, who helped guide Saints to promotion into the Premier League last season, was sacked after his side had picked up just five points from sixteen league matches.
Juric’s side have so far managed just one point from a possible twenty one in the league after losing 3-1 at home to Newcastle Utd last weekend.
Southampton have only won one match under Juric so far, beating Swansea City 3-0 in the third round of the FA Cup this month.
How does Juric start compare to former Saints managers?
Juric’s start to life on the south coast is a worrying reading when compared to his counterparts.
Former Saints manager Nathan Jones was given only eight league matches before he was sacked by the club, just one more than Juric has currently managed.
During that time Jones managed just one league win against Everton, losing seven matches.
Former boss Martin also endured a tricky start to life with the reds after winning just three of his opening eight Championship matches.
Saints Managers | Games | Wins | Draws | Losses |
Ralph Hasenhuttl | 173 | 60 | 38 | 75 |
Nathan Jones | 14 | 5 | 0 | 9 |
Russel Martin | 73 | 34 | 13 | 26 |
Ivan Juric (currently) | 8 | 1 | 1 | 6 |
What do the fans think?
Southampton supporters have growing concerns over the manager, as it seems almost certain the reds will be heading for another year in the Championship.
Reds supporter Alex said he fears the direction of the club:
“It’s not really surprising to me as a fan seeing where we are in the table. The team isn’t good enough and neither is the manager, we needed investment and the truth is there probably isn’t a manager in the league that could keep us up.”

So far in the January transfer window Southampton have signed french defender Joachim Kayi Sanda from Valenciennes FC for a fee of five million euros and Brazilian fullback Welington for three and a half million euros from Sau Paulo.
Saints fan Simon thinks new boss Juric will leave by the end of the season:
“The situation we are currently in reminds me of when Nathan Jones took charge. The team hasn’t got enough Premier League quality and Juric will pay the price for that. I would be surprised if Juric is still with us at the end of the season and even more surprised if we stay up.”
